Specifications

When it comes to choosing a motocross bike, I recommend choosing a model that ideally includes these criteria:

A quite powerful engine which means more than 450cc 4-stroke or more than 250cc 2-stroke because it needs a lot of power to spin the track.
A fuel injection engine because carburetor engines can be harder to start during the winter as they require more adjustments according to temperature differences.
A model with electric starter in addition to the kick start.
Enduro models are convenient because they often include a headlight, an electric starter and a larger fuel tank. Therefore, they are a little heavier.

Accessories

Several accessories can be added on the bike but the must-have is a front light, an extra gas canister and hand guards. I invite you to visit the GEAR section of the main menu for other useful accessories.

modifications

Just a few changes are required to switch from summer to winter mode.

To prevent snow from clogging the air intake, it is strongly recommended to change the air intake system. I recommend a high-performance air filter with a waterproof cover over it. The motocross models with the air intake at the front of the gas tank are favorable as snow accumulates less at this location.
I recommended you a thernostat. It prevents the coolant from flowing until the selected temperature is reached.
A winter adapted Oil like 0W40 is also important.
Originally, motocross suspension are not hard enough for the extreme conditions of a snowbike. You have the choice to add an additional suspension arm (ex: Trio Shock) or modifying the inside spring of the forks (0.70).
